Overview

Salary: NMW

Hours: Between 19 - 22.5hrs/week. (To be discussed)

Contract: Permanent (Subject to a satisfactory probation period)

Location: Positions at both St. Mary’s CVA, Horsforth & Holy Name CVA, Cookridge

Main duties

  • Planning, preparing and delivering quality play opportunities within a safe and caring environment.
  • Providing refreshments and ensuring that hygiene, health and safety standards are met.
  • Working with other team members with children aged between 4 and 11 years, based in the designated out of school club area but also using the outdoor area and other areas as appropriate.
  • Administering first aid when necessary.
  • Contributing ideas for learning and planning and using initiative.
  • Ensuring the different groups can gel and play happily together, as well as supporting inclusive practice for children with additional needs.
  • Setting up the play space including moving furniture and play equipment.
  • Ensuring the safety and well-being of all children in your care, and reporting concerns to your line manager.
  • Working within the framework of the club’s policies and procedures, and the Early Years Foundation Stage.
  • Carrying out other duties that may reasonably be regarded as within the nature of duties, responsibilities and grade of this post.

Person specification

  • An enhanced DBS check is required; you must therefore not have any convictions or cautions, previous or current, that are relevant when working with children.
  • Experience of working with 5-11yr olds.
  • Pride in your work, and the ability to work as part of a dedicated team is also key.
  • Commitment to undertake any other necessary training with our approved training provider.
  • Level 2/3 childcare or play work qualification (or equivalent childcare qualification).
  • Paediatric First Aid Certificate.
  • Level 2 Safeguarding training.
