Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Physiotherapist to join the medical department as a First Team Physiotherapist for Leeds Rhinos. The successful candidate will join an excellent science, medicine, and performance team, working at one of the most successful clubs in sport. The successful candidate will report directly to the Head Physiotherapist.

The ideal candidate must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to contribute to the MDT. Clinically the candidate must exhibit excellent knowledge of current evidence-based practice, have a thorough understanding of upper, lower and spinal pathologies.

The Assistant First Team Physiotherapist must demonstrate a confident ability to diagnose, treat and rehabilitate injuries within an appropriate time-frame, with a prognosis in line with those of sporting demands and concurrent training. The Assistant First Team Physiotherapist will work collaboratively with the Academy Physiotherapists to support their development as independent clinicians.

The duties consist of but are not exclusive to the following:

  • Assessment, diagnosis and rehabilitation of all senior squad players
  • Screening of short and long-term injury predispositions
  • Design and implement management plans for injured players
  • Provide pitch-side trauma cover for training and all 1st team friendly, league and cup matches
  • Appropriate record keeping in line with medico-legal requirements and those of regulatory bodies
  • General house-keeping and maintenance of the department
  • Contribute to the MDT
  • Maintain strong working relationships and have a clear and transparent pathway of communication with the Strength & Conditioning and Performance team and other stakeholders
  • Adopt the standards and criteria set within the RFL audit
  • Adopt the standards of discipline, respect and professional behaviour within the department

Essential Criteria

  • BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy Degree
  • Current member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP)
  • Current registration with the HCPC (Physiotherapy)
  • Minimum of 3 years post graduate experience
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Knowledge of strength and conditioning principles

Desirable Criteria

  • Valid IMMOFP, PHICIS L3 or ATMMiF
  • Experience in rugby, or elite full-time sport environment
  • MSc or other equivalent post-graduate qualification
