Part Time Lecturer - Voice in Context Lectures (BA Voice) & Research Seminars (BA Voice), Leeds

The School of Popular Music & Voice wishes to appoint Part Time Lecturers across the BA Voice curriculum, to deliver teaching and assessing and undertake any other work associated with relevant modules. The teaching term follows the Undergraduate Music Academic Calendar. Note that other duties may fall outside of the term time weeks. The start date for the teaching will be w/c 21st September 2026, but with planning and preparation happening prior to this week.

We are looking for staff for the following modules:

• Industry Skills (Year 2) from Sept 2026
• Voice in Context (1 hour teaching per week for 10 weeks, both semesters)
• Professional Skills (Year 3) from Sept 2027
• Voice in Context (1 hour teaching per week for 10 weeks, both semesters)
• Specialist Study Research Project (Year 3) from Sept 2027
• Research Seminars (1 hour teaching per week for 5 weeks, both semesters)

We would particularly welcome applications from candidates with a particular academic/research interest in areas related to voice and voice music through the lens of musicology or ethnomusicology. Part Time teaching staff will work closely with the Academic Manager in the School of Popular Music and Voice, as well as the School Administrator and other relevant Part Time Lecturers. Applicants should have highly developed communication skills, be collaborative and willing to work with a team of managers and lecturers to deliver an excellent student experience and contribute to a thriving work environment.

What You Will Do:

• Plan and deliver high-quality lectures and seminars
• Assess student coursework and provide constructive feedback in line with institutional guidelines
• Support students while collaborating with academic and professional services teams to deliver an outstanding student experience
• Work closely with the Academic Manager, BA Voice lecturers, and departmental colleagues to plan teaching, ensure curriculum quality, and maintain effective communication across the programme
• Contribute to the development of voice provision, departmental strategy, and curriculum within the School of Popular Music and Voice

About You:

• Honours and postgraduate qualifications in a relevant discipline, with expertise in voice related academic research; a higher education teaching qualification is desirable
• Experience teaching in higher education, supported by comprehensive subject knowledge, evidence of teaching excellence, and current awareness of research in the field
• Excellent communication, organisational, and administrative skills, with the ability to engage, motivate, and inspire students
• Collaborative approach to working across departments, with proficiency in using subject-specific technologies and digital tools to enhance teaching and learning
