Leeds Civic Trust is a voluntary, non-political organization open to all individuals who wish to contribute to and shape the planning and development of our city. As a champion of Leeds’ heritage and built environment, the Trust works to ensure that the city remains a vibrant, inclusive, and enjoyable place for everyone.

Examples of our activities include:

  • Influencing the development of the city's built environment and promoting high quality building design
  • Contributing to and influencing the development of transport and active travel initiatives and supporting the development of the city's waterways and greenspaces
  • Organising talks, debates and public events with business and civic leaders, historians and stakeholders
  • Running the largest blue plaques scheme outside of London, and telling the stories of the people, places and buildings that have shaped the city's history
  • Organising high profile city wide events such as the Leeds Architecture Awards and Heritage Open Days

What is the role? The role will lead the coordination, recruitment, support and development of volunteers. They will be a key point of contact with volunteers and their role will ensure that volunteers have a positive and consistent experience. This will include delivering inductions, supporting training, maintaining records and ensuring volunteers are engaged, supported and valued throughout their involvement. Volunteering opportunities arise in the context of the Trust's committees and groups, one off projects or individual activity.

What skills and experience are we looking for:

  • Experience of working with volunteers, community engagement or coordination roles
  • Experience of recruitment, induction or onboarding processes
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills
  • Ability to manage and maintain accurate data and reporting systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience of building and maintaining relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Ability to motivate, support and engage volunteers effectively
  • Confidence using IT systems including databases, spreadsheets and basic reporting tools
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
  • Commitment to inclusion, equality and widening participation
