What You Will Do
- Provide high quality care and education for all children and support for families.
- Ensure day-to-day childcare provision in your assigned room is of a high standard.
- Work with the wider leadership team to provide a broad and balanced Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum.
About You
We are looking for qualified, enthusiastic, adaptable candidates with the personal qualities to care for and develop young children. You must have:
- Ability to build relationships and communicate effectively with a wide range of people individually, in groups and at all appropriate levels
- Ability to safeguard children and support them to develop their resilience
- Ability to use the EYFS to lead planning and evaluation of activities to aid children’s learning
- Ability to write and oversee the production of reports and plans to support children’s learning, development and wellbeing
Experience and Qualifications
- Minimum of Level 3 qualification in childcare (see CWDC guidance on qualifications finder)
- Good standard of literacy and numeracy
- Recent experience of working with young children and families

Job Description
Job purpose: Under the general direction of the Manager and senior staff, the Nursery Officer delivers a high standard of care that meets the individual needs of children, builds positive relationships, and safely meets physical care requirements. All staff support the service’s aim to encourage children’s development and promote a customer-focused, open, and collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide high quality care and education for all children and support for families
- Deliver a broad and balanced EYFS curriculum
- Support Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) through IEPs and Early Support
- Observe and monitor children’s development and contribute to written progress reports
- Maintain client confidentiality and liaise with parents, social workers and health visitors
- Prepare reports for school transitions and ensure health and safety compliance
- Manage medication administration in line with policies
- Follow safeguarding procedures in line with Local Safeguarding Children Board procedures
- Support student placements and provide educational visits with risk assessments
- Promote equal opportunities and participate in training and development
Requirements
- Essential: Level 2 qualification in childcare (as defined by CWDC) with willingness to achieve required standards
- GCSE Maths and English or equivalent; Paediatric First Aid certificate or commitment to obtain within required timescales
- Knowledge of current legislation and EYFS guidance
- Experience of working with children and families and ability to work as part of a team
- Willingness to support children with SEND in an inclusive setting
- Ability to use ICT (Word, Excel) and to plan and evaluate activities using EYFS
