Overview

The Communities, Housing and Environmental Services Directorate along with partners deliver a wide range of services and is responsible for addressing poverty and inequality. This exciting new role will see you play a key part in contributing towards the Business Development team being a centralised hub of best practice for the directorate. To achieve this the team is responsible for strengthening existing corporate links by providing a cross-directorate approach towards delivering our key services through using our data and intelligence to support our decision making. You will be required to support programmes of high-profile work taking place across the directorate. To do so you will need to use existing and develop new skills to effectively facilitate greater co-ordination and collaboration across services, enabling our directorate to be more integrated, efficient, and effective with a clear focus on our people, citizens, and communities. The role will also involve you undertaking data analysis and reporting work and contributing towards the development of data management systems to suit business needs. Job Purpose:

To contribute towards the development of the service through supporting the delivery of all Business Development work which is focused on facilitating greater co-ordination and collaboration across services, enabling our Directorate to be more integrated, efficient, and effective with a clear focus on our people, citizens, and communities. This role also covers data manipulation, analysis and reporting and the ongoing development of data management systems to suit business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and maintaining productive relationships with all our stakeholders who range from staff at all levels, councillors, and partner organisations.
  • Managing own workload and prioritising effectively.
  • Working as part of a team, providing supervision when required to ensure collective objectives and targets are met.
  • Sharing knowledge of best practice with colleagues and managers across the service.
  • Assisting on the provision of regular returns in relation to performance and risk management.
  • Supporting discrete service improvement pieces and business process review work and assist the implementation of any agreed changes.
  • Attending relevant meetings and taking minutes.
  • Knowledge and experience of adhering to legislative business, financial, audit, confidential and operational requirements of the service, and the impact on its day-to-day work.
  • Providing support for directorate wide communication and events.
  • Maintaining both manual and electronic records.
  • Inputting and retrieving data from a variety of computerised systems for business need.
  • Highlighting the outcomes achieved from our work through undertaking detailed analysis and producing reports and information for our stakeholders.
  • Flexible and adaptable to change to assist other services as required commensurate to grade.
  • Participate in appraisal, training, and development activities as necessary to ensure up to date knowledge and skills.
  • Improve own practice through observation, evaluation, discussion with colleagues and development programmes.
  • To work collaboratively with colleagues, knowing when to seek help and advice.
  • Contribute to the overall ethos, work, and aims of the service by attending relevant meetings, training days/events as requested.
  • Be aware of and comply with Leeds City Council policies and procedures e.g., child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality, and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person.

Knowledge and Experience

Knowledge Required:

  • Understanding of local government issues.
  • Working knowledge of how our Directorate and the wider council works.

  • Coordinating, updating, and communicating work plan actions.
