Two posts which involves working Monday – Friday on a two week rota. Week 1: 9am – 5pm; Week 2: 10am – 6pm.

Responsibilities

As a Leeds Community Equipment Technical, you’ll play a key role in the supply of equipment to support daily living tasks and independence. This is achieved by delivering and installing complex equipment to people’s own home.

The Leeds Community Equipment Technical team are expected to deliver, dismantle and collect equipment which requires one person and to also work in pairs for equipment which requires two person deliveries.

To liaise with customers and/or carers and to be able to demonstrate the safe operating use of the equipment.

The role is integral to our Leeds Community Equipment team to support and enable people to live safe, independent, and fulfilling lives, supporting health and social care statutory responsibilities. The service is important to the prevention agenda and provides a vital gateway to independence, dignity and wellbeing for people living in the community.

The service operates 7 days a week and provides the delivery, ordering, maintenance, service and repair of community equipment following a professional assessment. The service also collects and refurbished equipment for it to be reissued. This role is essential for the recycling of equipment for Adults and Children.

Qualifications

  • Evidence of numerical and literacy skills e.g. GCSE pass at Grade C or above in English and Mathematics or equivalent (this may include relevant work experience)
  • Achieved or working towards or willing to undertake NVQ 3 Electrical, City & Guilds PAT Testing 2377 22 & 32
  • Full clean driving license to drive a manual vehicle
  • Ability to drive a van (non HGV)

Essential requirements

It is essential that the candidate should be able to demonstrate the following criteria for the post. Candidates will only be shortlisted for interview if they can demonstrate that they meet all the essential requirements.

  • Ability to work unsupervised and to organize and plan to meet deadlines and manage time effectively
  • Communication skills; written and verbal. – routine information
  • Provide instruction to customers, carers (paid & Unpaid) and families on the safe use of the equipment installed
  • To supervise new staff on all aspects of the role to ensure safe installation of equipment
  • Analytical skills – route planning
  • Able to accurately enter/retrieve data information from information systems
  • Ability to organise and prioritise workload
  • To respect the need for confidentiality. Manual handling that can be gained through training and induction
  • Analytical skills – problem solving on equipment, interpreting instructions
  • Physical skills – use of tools to assemble equipment, high degree of accuracy required

Knowledge Required

  • Knowledge of equipment for daily living
  • Practical understanding of the application of computerised systems
  • Aware of the range and issues of people who are likely to access community equipment
  • Knowledge of Leeds and surrounding areas
  • Transport rules/ regulations

Experience Required

  • In the use of the Microsoft package
  • Of communicating effectively and positively in several ways with a variety of people
  • Of using a range of computer operating systems
  • Of working to deadlines
  • Experience of working in a customer service environment

  • Desirable Experience: Assembly of equipment requiring maintenance, which can be gained through training/ experience and induction- base level of knowledge
