Leeds Sixth Form are recruiting for a Science Teacher to join our team. We welcome applications from all Science specialisms and also welcome applications from newly qualified teachers. Teaching across our Sixth Form provision of Level 2 and Level 3 learners, you will be carrying out the Sixth Form’s vision to pioneer our STEM provision for students across West Yorkshire. This will include teaching across our BTEC and Access Courses as well as transitioning to the new AAQ syllabus in the new academic year. In our BTEC provision teachers teach across the Science subject areas. Our Science teachers teach across all science specialisms, but an ability to teach the Biology specialism is preferred. We are a friendly and engaging department with specialists who work across both academic and pastoral areas, putting the needs of our students first. We have outstanding facilities for staff to share their passion of Science and encourage students into careers in the STEM industry. What You Will Do:
- Plan, prepare and develop schemes of work, session plans, teaching and learning resources, learning and assessment plans.
- Deliver and assess essential knowledge and understanding to learners.
- Motivate and inspire students to achieve targets and develop their skills to enable progression.
- Develop and strengthen relationships with learners and provide support to ensure successful outcomes.
- Use and promote restorative practice approaches.
About You:
- Holds a L5 Teaching Qualification (e.g., Cert Ed, PGCE).
- Relevant highest level vocational qualification or degree in teaching subject.
- Relevant up-to-date subject knowledge and recent delivery in the Further Education or school sector.
- Experience of setting appropriate SMART targets to ensure progression of learners.
- Knowledge of current teaching practices and experience of utilising a range of teaching practices to enhance the learning journey and learner progression.
- Ability to inspire and motivate learners to achieve their full potential.
