Leeds City College are seeking a Teacher of Health, Science and Social Care to join us at our Quarry Hill Campus. We are looking for someone with the passion and skills to teach primarily at Level 3, but with some flexibility to deliver on other levels as required. The School of Health, Science and Social Care supports around 900 students on courses from Level 1 to Level 3 to prepare them for careers in the NHS, Ambulance Service, Social Care and allied professions. The department consistently achieves outstanding outcomes for students and has a supportive and friendly team. Please note, this is a part-time role (18.5 hours per week). The pro rata'd salary is 15,958 with progression to 17,956.

What You Will Do

  • You will teach primarily at Level 3, but with some flexibility to deliver on other levels as required.
  • You will plan, prepare and develop schemes of work, session plans, teaching and learning resources and activities.
  • You will deliver inspiring lessons using a wide range of teaching methods including digital skills.
  • You will assess and provide regular feedback to learners, supporting them to achieve their highest potential grades.
  • You will record student progress ensuring they are kept up to date in their assessments.

About You

  • Holds a L5 Teaching Qualification (e.g. Cert Ed, PGCE).
  • Relevant highest level vocational qualification or degree in teaching subject.
  • English and Maths at Level 2 or above and a willingness to improve in one or both disciplines to level 3 or above.
  • Recent teaching delivery in relevant subject areas (PGCE teaching placements/experience would also qualify here) which demonstrates active learning and differentiated teaching styles.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate learners to achieve their optimum.
