About the Role

Harrogate College are looking for an English teacher who is enthusiastic about teaching and learning, and who can motivate and inspire students to achieve their ambitions. The ideal candidate will be passionate about learners and will ensure they are provided with an outstanding learning journey while at Harrogate College. This role involves working across the college to deliver GCSE English to learners in all curriculum areas. The role is suitable for those with previous experience teaching GCSE English.

What You Will Do

  • Deliver and assess essential knowledge and understanding to learners for GCSE English.
  • Record student progress, motivate and inspire students to achieve targets, and develop their skills to enable progression.
  • Reflect on what works best in teaching and learning to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Adapt curriculum delivery methods to maximise their effectiveness, including through the use of technology.
  • Plan, prepare and develop effective schemes of work, lesson plans, teaching and learning resources, including the development of online learning resources for identified modules.
  • Deliver inspiring sessions across the curriculum using a wide range of teaching methods for identified modules.
  • Develop and employ effective assessment activities for identified modules.
  • Assess student work, provide constructive and timely feedback to motivate and inspire the learner to improve and record learners’ progress for identified modules.

About You

  • Honours Degree in English or a relevant subject.
  • Relevant experience teaching GCSE to 16‑18 year‑olds.
  • Hold or be working towards a Level 5 recognised teaching qualification.
  • Proven ability to set ambitious student targets and possess strategies and skills to help all students achieve their full potential.
  • Ability to deliver teaching in an engaging and inspiring manner, demonstrating excellent rapport with students of all ages and abilities.
