About the Role

Leeds City College is recruiting for an Electrical Installation Teacher to join the School of Sustainable Technologies and Motor Vehicle based at our Printworks Campus.

We welcome applications from candidates with industry experience who are looking to move into a teaching career.

The School of Sustainable Technologies and Motor Vehicle is located at our Printworks Campus. Our facilities boast industry‑standard workshops equipped with state‑of‑the‑art equipment. Students have access to specialised workshops including Body and Paint Lab and Motor Vehicle Maintenance. We also have a fully operational Electric Vehicle training facility that houses both hybrid and fully electric vehicles and training rigs, enabling learners to develop skills in the latest sustainable technologies.

We offer an employer‑led curriculum and are committed to providing all learners with the skills, knowledge and behaviours required to meet the growing needs of industry. Learners are encouraged to have fun, be kind, believe in their own unique abilities, and be proud of the progress they make. £3,000 market supplement is available for this role, dependant on experience.

What You Will Do

  • Deliver and assess essential knowledge and understanding to help learners gain a successful outcome at Level 2 and Level 3.
  • Be responsible for the retention, achievement and positive progression rates for identified courses in your area.
  • Provide high‑quality and effective planning and delivery across the course team.
  • Develop creative learning materials for learners.

About You

  • Hold a minimum Level 3 in Electrical Installation (236 part 1 & 2, 2330 L2 & 3, 2357/5357 etc.).
  • Ideally hold qualifications in:
    • Inspection & Testing (2391, 2394 etc.)
    • Wiring Regulations (18th Edition)
    • Assessors Award (CAVA etc.)
    • Internal Quality Assurance (IQA L4)
  • Have a Level 5 Teaching Qualification, or a willingness to work towards one within a given timeframe.
  • Knowledge and experience within the Electrical Installation trade would be a benefit and help in delivery of both practical and theory to Level 2 and Level 3 students/apprentices.
  • Previous experience of managing student and group progression, providing advice and guidance in a learning or work environment.
  • Ability to plan and deliver quality teaching.
  • Can work both individually and as part of a team.
