Teacher – Foundation Studies (Maternity Cover)

Leeds City College is recruiting a Teacher to join the Foundation Studies department.

The role is a fixed‑term maternity cover until July 2027.

The department provides bespoke learning for SEND and high‑needs students aged 16‑25 and supports students in Work Skills and Life Skills pathways.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare and develop schemes of work, session plans, teaching and learning resources, learning and assessment plans and mandatory internal verification or moderation.
  • Deliver and assess essential knowledge and understanding to learners.
  • Create individual SMART learning targets linked to learner study programmes and record student progress.
  • Maintain and update knowledge of subject and vocational or educational research to develop evidence‑based practice.
  • Motivate and inspire students to achieve targets and develop skills for progression.
  • Reflect on effective teaching and learning to meet diverse student needs.
  • Adapt curriculum delivery methods, including technology use, to maximise effectiveness.

Qualifications & Experience

  • PGCE qualification.
  • Experience working with SEND students.
  • Understanding of strategies to support and develop SEND students in line with the Preparation for Adulthood framework.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with students, parents, carers and colleagues.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills.
  • Capability to work as part of a team towards EHCP outcomes and in line with the RARPA model of delivery.
