Leeds City College are recruiting for a Photography Teacher to join our Visual Arts team based at Quarry Hill campus. The ideal candidate will have a specialist background in photography with experience in both delivery and assessment. You will have the ability to deliver our BTEC courses within our Visual Arts department.
The Visual Arts department at Leeds City College is leading the way across the West Yorkshire region by offering a wide provision of industry led courses, including BTEC and Access to HE which specifically prepare the next generation of creatives for university and/or working in the creative industries. We are a team of both industry and specialist academic teachers who ensure that each of our students is provided with an exceptional experience with outcomes to match.

What You Will Do
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons and learning materials, including digital and blended resources.
- Assess learning effectively and provide constructive feedback to support student achievement.
- Set and monitor targets to track and improve learner progress.
- Inspire and motivate students to reach their goals and develop their skills.
- Stay current with subject knowledge, industry trends, and effective teaching practice.
- Contribute to quality assurance through verification, moderation, and continuous improvement.
- Adapt teaching methods and curriculum design to meet diverse learner needs.
- Support course promotion, recruitment, and induction activities within the College.
About You
- Relevant experience within the photographic and/or creative commercial industry.
- Strong technical expertise in photography, including camera operation, studio practice, Adobe Creative Suite, and traditional processing (darkroom skills desirable but not essential).
- A recognised teaching qualification with experience in Further Education, specialising in visual arts subjects at Levels 2 and 3.
- Commitment to developing innovative, industry-focused approaches to curriculum design and delivery.
- Up-to-date knowledge of contemporary trends across Photography, Moving Image, Graphic Design, and Fashion Photography.
- Proven ability to positively manage and motivate students, ensuring high levels of retention, achievement, success, and attendance.
- Good understanding of formative and summative assessment and effective progress tracking.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills, with the ability to contribute productively to course development.
