Leeds Sixth Form is recruiting for a Science Teacher to join our team. We welcome applications from both experienced and newly qualified teachers. This is a fixed-term role from 26th August 2026 - 2nd April 2027. You will be teaching GCSE Science across our Sixth Form provision, on our SUTA and Access Foundation courses. We are a friendly and engaging department with specialists who work across both academic and pastoral areas, putting the needs of our students first. What You Will Do
- You will work in our busy GCSE department where we deliver GCSE Science, based at our Park Lane Campus.
- Deliver and assess essential knowledge and understanding to learners for GCSE Science.
- Be responsible for recording student progress, motivate and inspire students to achieve targets and develop their skills to enable progression.
- Reflect on what works best in teaching and learning to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Adapt curriculum delivery methods to maximise their effectiveness, including through the use of technology.
- Plan, prepare and develop effective schemes of work, lesson plans, teaching and learning resources including the development of online learning resources for identified modules.
- Deliver inspiring sessions across the curriculum using a wide range of teaching methods for identified modules.
- Develop and employ effective assessment activities for identified modules.
- Assess student work, provide constructive and timely feedback to motivate and inspire the learner to improve and record learners’ progress for identified modules.
About You
- Honours Degree in Science or a relevant subject.
- Have relevant experience in teaching to 16-18 year-olds up to Level 2.
- You will also hold or be working towards a Level 5 recognised teaching qualification.
- A proven ability to set ambitious student targets and possess the strategies and skills to effectively help all students achieve their full potential.
- An ability to deliver teaching in an engaging and inspiring manner, demonstrating excellent rapport with students of all ages and abilities.
