Leeds City College is seeking a Teacher of Beauty Therapy and a Teacher of Hairdressing to join our dynamic Printworks Campus. The role is a fixed‑term contract until July 2026 and offers variable hours.
About the Role
- As a Teacher of Beauty Therapy you will deliver approximately 14 hours of teaching each week, scheduled on Mondays and Fridays.
- As a Level 3 Hairdressing Teacher you will teach around 20 hours per week on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
- Both roles also support the team as bank staff, covering sickness and other absences, and experience in barbering is a bonus.
- You will deliver high‑quality, inspiring learning experiences that reflect professional industry standards and support students in developing the skills, knowledge, and confidence they need to succeed.
What You Will Do
- Plan, prepare, and develop scheme of work, session plans, teaching and learning resources, learning and assessment plans.
- Deliver and assess essential knowledge and understanding to learners.
- Create individual SMART learning targets and record student progress.
- Maintain and update knowledge of the subject area.
- Keep current with educational research to inform evidence‑based practice.
- Motivate and inspire students to achieve targets and develop their skills for progression.
- Adapt curriculum delivery methods, including technology use, to maximise effectiveness.
About You
- Hold an L5 Teaching Qualification (e.g., Cert Ed, PGCE) or be willing to work towards it.
- Have a relevant highest‑level vocational qualification or degree in the teaching subject.
- Possess up‑to‑date subject knowledge and recent delivery experience in FE or school settings.
- Experience setting SMART targets to drive learner progression.
- Know current teaching practices and can employ a range of methods to enhance learning and progress.
- Be able to inspire and motivate learners to achieve their optimum.
