This is a Fixed Term contract for 18 months (duration of the apprenticeship).
Leeds City College is recruiting for an iLearn Mentor to join our iLearn team. As an iLearn Mentor, you will have an integral role in delivering group and 1-to-1 sessions to students. The successful candidate will undertake an 18-month apprenticeship to achieve a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification.
What You Will Do
- Plan and deliver engaging workshops and support sessions (both face-to-face and online) on topics within the independent learning skills menu.
- Create high-quality, simple-to-use learning resources, induction materials, and guides to help students learn.
- Prepare activities and training sessions that are appropriate and relevant to learner needs.
- Support students in small groups and 1-to-1s to develop their independent learning, digital, and general study skills.
- Actively promote the development of independent learning skills along with English and maths skills with all students.
- Effectively manage a caseload of students, scheduling appointments via 121 and monitoring their progress using feedback forms and internal systems (ProMon, Navigate).
- Help to maintain a positive, safe, and appropriate environment for all students to study in.
- Support students by maintaining hub-related resources, including books, Chromebooks and e-resources.
About You
- Have the ability to communicate and engage with students and curriculum staff at all levels, ensuring relationships are enhanced and collaborative experiences and opportunities are realised.
- Knowledge and extensive experience of skills building in a student or using all media.
- Knowledge and experience with Google applications e.g. Docs, Slides and Sheets.
- Experience working with colleagues in a cross-departmental / multi-disciplinary delivery role.
- Experience in influencing and supporting students to achieve the best by stretching and challenging by reviewing progress and achieving improved outcomes.
- Ability to use your initiative and feedback to improve performance and success of our sessions on a 121 basis and in class.
