About the Role

Leeds City College is recruiting for an experienced SEND professional to join our Preparation for Adulthood (Pf A) team as an Intervention Support Coach.

This is a reduced-year role, 39 weeks per year. The pro rata salary is £23,902 with progression to £24,505.

This role will lead through a matrix management approach across Luminate FE colleges for the placement and support of students with Educational Health Care Plans.

It aims to provide intervention and wellbeing support for learners with needs, enabling them to participate, progress, achieve, and enjoy a fully inclusive college experience.

What You Will Do

  • Keeping accurate and timely logs and other records, as required.
  • Supporting student wellbeing in the department and providing support for other team members.
  • Ensuring all paperwork, mandatory training and documentation is kept up to date and in line with statutory requirements.
  • Supporting the department to provide outstanding and robust support to SEND learners to meet the individual needs outlined in their EHCP.
  • Supporting intervention strategies aligned to areas of specialism to strengthen staff subject knowledge.
  • Attending meetings as and when required.
  • Contributing towards audit and compliance of evidence required for all aspects of SEND support.
  • Engaging in CPD and training to develop pedagogical knowledge within your specialist area.

About You

  • English and Mathematics at Level 2 or above, and a willingness to improve in one or both disciplines to Level 3 or above.
  • Qualification relevant to the post.
  • Relevant experience, knowledge and understanding of working in the sector around supporting young people with SEND.
  • A compassionate, resilient, and patient individual with a strong commitment to inclusion and a belief in discovering potential.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure, build positive relationships, and passion for supporting children with SEND and behavioural needs to thrive in their learning environment.
