Leeds City College are seeking a Horticulture Apprentice to join our dynamic team in the Animal Care and Land Management department. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work alongside our horticulture staff and students to maintain the campus grounds, as well as collaborate with council colleagues in the wider estate to develop your knowledge and skills.
The School of Animal Care and Land Management offers a wide range of study programmes, apprenticeships and Higher Education (HE). This role is predominantly a support role, focused on developing the campus grounds to ensure they reflect the high standards of our horticulture curriculum. There will also be opportunities to support horticulture practical classes. As part of this apprenticeship, the successful candidate will be required to undertake off-the-job training, which will be delivered by an external training provider.
This role will be based mainly at Temple Newsam, but on occasion, you may be required to work at other campuses, such as Printworks or the University Centre. As this is a practical role working in the grounds of the estate, the successful candidate should ideally have some experience working in a similar setting.
We envisage this role starting in September 2026. The position is full time and fixed term for the length of the Level 2 Horticulture Operative Apprenticeship (24 months).
