Leeds City College are looking for an enthusiastic full-time Apprentice Teacher of Music to join our School of Music and Performance Production. Based at our state-of-the-art Quarry Hill campus, you will gain on the job experience, whilst also working towards completing your Teaching apprenticeship - on completion you will gain a Level 5 Certificate in Education. The course is provided internally through University Centre Leeds. You will also receive support from our dedicated Teaching, Learning and Assessment team who share their expertise and guidance on best practice to our teaching colleagues at all levels of their career.
Our Music department offers a number of courses for all ages and abilities, ranging from Level 1 to Level 3 extended programmes. They are supported by experienced staff from across the music industry within our fantastic facilities including the 180 seat Chroma-Q theatre; 5 dance studios; 2 recording studios; TV production facilities; screening room; practice rooms; and Theatre Design workshops. We are looking for committed, creative, and innovative colleagues who are excited by the possibilities that working in our team will offer. Please note, this is a fixed term contract for the length of the 24 month apprenticeship.
What You Will Do
- Plan, prepare and develop effective schemes of work, lesson plans, teaching and learning resources including the development of on-line learning resources.
- Deliver inspiring sessions across the curriculum using a wide range of teaching methods for identified modules.
- Create effective assessment activities, provide developmental and timely feedback to motivate and inspire learners to improve.
- Develop and strengthen relationships with students and provide support and encouragement to ensure successful outcomes.
- Join a friendly, supportive, hard-working team who are passionate about developing learners' self-esteem, abilities and progress.
About You
- Good general education including Maths and English Level 2 or above (or GCSE Grade 4 or above).
- Level 3 qualification, such as a level 3 (advanced) apprenticeship, A-Levels, BTEC or NVQ.
- Experience of working with & supporting young people in an educational setting.
- Qualifications and/or experience related to the music industry.
