About the Role

Leeds City College requires experienced SEND professionals to support students with Educational Health Care Plans. This will include physically supporting students within the classroom, helping with personal care, and, at times, pushing a wheelchair. Additionally, you will be an operational main point of contact with local authorities and contribute to positive outcomes for disadvantaged and vulnerable students.

This role is part-time, reduced year: 30 hours per week, 39 weeks per year. The actual pro rata salary for this role is £18,415 per annum.

What You Will Do

  • Provide support within the classroom and off-site visits.
  • Help provide support for students with additional needs i.e. essential wheelchair user, hearing impairment, visual impairment etc.
  • Involved in planning, preparation and assessment of learning as part of the course team.
  • Providing in-class support to meet needs of students who have high needs.
  • Providing curriculum teachers/assessors and Learning Support team members with verbal and written reports on students who have high needs or SEN.
  • Assisting with emergency evacuation plans and practices, and helping with all emergency evacuations.
  • Keeping accurate and timely records, recording progress and strategies used, as required.

About You

  • Must have or be working towards English and Maths at Functional Skills Level 2 (Equivalent to GCSE grade C/Level 4) or above.
  • Relevant experience, knowledge and understanding of working in the Sector – Personal care, supporting students who use wheelchairs.
  • Relevant qualification in related area.
  • Must be IT literate.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate with staff/students at all levels in the college.
