Keighley College are seeking an Engineering Apprenticeship Assessor to join our Apprenticeships Department. In this role, you will help apprentices develop the skills and confidence to succeed in engineering careers, deliver training both on-site and in the workplace, and build strong partnerships with businesses, contributing to regional skills development. You will have the ability to gain teaching qualifications if you don’t already have one, and access ongoing development opportunities. We have recently opened our brand-new Technical Education Centre - an innovative, purpose-built facility designed to train the next generation of engineers. Equipped with state-of-the-art machinery, industry-standard tools and modern learning spaces, the centre provides an inspiring environment where learners can develop the hands-on skills and technical expertise that employers need now and in the future. Joining our team means playing a key role in shaping this exciting development and supporting the engineering talent pipeline for our region.

As an Engineering Apprenticeship Assessor, you’ll play a key role in guiding apprentices through their training journey. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and Delivering Training: Design and deliver both practical and theoretical sessions, on-site and in the workplace, to develop learners’ skills and knowledge.
  • Assessing and Reviewing Progress: Monitor learner progress against apprenticeship standards, provide constructive feedback, and ensure timely completion of all components.
  • Managing a Caseload: Take ownership of a group of apprentices, tracking their progress using systems like OneFile and maintaining accurate records.
  • Employer Engagement: Work closely with employers to agree Individual Learning Plans, conduct regular reviews, and ensure training meets business needs.
  • Quality Assurance: Contribute to internal verification and compliance with awarding body standards, ensuring high-quality delivery and continuous improvement.
  • Supporting Recruitment and Onboarding: Assist with enrolment, sign-up, and health and safety checks, providing information, advice, and guidance to learners and employers.

About You:

  • Level 3 qualification in an engineering discipline.
  • Assessor’s Award (or equivalent).
  • Level 2 English and Maths.
  • (Desirable) Teaching qualification or willingness to work towards one.
  • (Desirable) Experience in an educational setting and using systems like OneFile.
  • Hands-on knowledge of engineering practices and apprenticeship standards.
  • Experience assessing learners in the workplace and confident in delivering both practical and theoretical training.
  • Ability to build professional relationships with employers and work within a multi-disciplined organisation.
  • Strong organisational skills to manage caseloads and meet deadlines and excellent interpersonal skills to engage learners and employers.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire apprentices to achieve their goals and a commitment to equality, diversity, and safeguarding.
