Leeds City College is seeking an Apprentice Teacher of Animal Care to join our dynamic team in the Animal Care and Land Management department. In this role you will deliver Animal Care courses both in our animal care centre and Home Farm while undertaking a Level 5 Learning and Skills Teacher Apprenticeship. The role will predominantly be based at Temple Newsam, with occasional work at other campuses such as Printworks or the University Centre. This is a practical role that includes delivering practical sessions on the farm and animal care centre. The successful candidate should have experience working in a similar setting and be able to support further education students to achieve their full potential. We envisage this role starting in September 2026. This is a fixed‑term role for the duration of 18 months.

What You Will Do

  • Deliver and assess essential knowledge and understanding to learners.
  • Plan, prepare and develop schemes of work, session plans, teaching and learning resources, learning and assessment plans.
  • Create individual SMART learning targets linked to learner study programme/course and track and monitor progress against these.
  • Record student progress and support students to achieve targets.
  • Deliver a minimum of 150 teaching hours over the two‑year period.

About You

  • Hold a degree in a relevant subject.
  • Hold Level 2 English and Maths qualifications or equivalent.
  • Have up‑to‑date subject knowledge in a specific area and up‑to‑date knowledge of workplace practice.
