You can play a key part in that by joining our Technology, Corporate and Infrastructure function as a Database Administrator. You’ll be based in our Leeds office, with a hybrid working model and flexible working patterns considered.
How You'll Make a Difference
In this role, you’ll help ensure the availability, security and performance of the databases that underpin the Society’s systems. You’ll support the safe, reliable operation of critical services through effective administration, monitoring, maintenance and continuous improvement across our database estate. You’ll work across Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server and Azure SQL environments, helping to deliver technical change, support day to day operations, and improve resilience across both on‑premises and cloud platforms. Working closely with colleagues across Technology and third‑party partners, you’ll also contribute to performance tuning, patching, backup and recovery, and proactive service monitoring.
What will you bring to the role?
- Experience of database administration in a production environment, with strong knowledge of Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server or Azure SQL
- Experience of upgrades, patching, performance tuning, backup and recovery across database platforms
- Understanding of database security management, monitoring and high availability service delivery
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with a pragmatic approach to technical challenges and solution design
- Ability to provide technical support, investigate incidents, perform root cause analysis and maintain knowledge articles
- Knowledge of Windows operating systems and experience working in on‑premise and cloud environments
- A collaborative mindset, with the ability to work independently, communicate with a range of stakeholders and support out‑of‑hours activity when needed
- A passion for technology and innovation, with a keen interest in developing expertise across the wider database and IT landscape
