In this integral role, you will work closely with colleagues across Finance and the wider business to process invoices, maintain high-quality financial records, reconcile accounts, and resolve queries with clarity and confidence. What You’ll Be Doing as a Purchase Ledger Clerk
- Corporate Contribution
- Contribute to the Finance Team in delivering its objectives and supporting the smooth operation of the department.
- Represent Leeds Bradford Airport professionally with colleagues, suppliers, and key stakeholders, helping maintain our outstanding reputation.
- Uphold LBA’s Vision, Values & Behaviours in everything you do, ensuring integrity, customer focus, and commitment are at the heart of your work.
- Purchase Ledger Contribution
- Process supplier invoices and credit notes accurately, ensuring correct VAT treatment and adherence to approval procedures.
- Liaise proactively with department managers and suppliers to resolve account and invoice queries efficiently.
- Reconcile and allocate direct debit accounts, identifying and resolving any discrepancies or missing invoices.
- Reconcile supplier statements and process pro-forma invoices, following up to ensure VAT invoices are received promptly.
- Create BACS payment runs and ad-hoc payments, maintaining accuracy and timeliness.
- Review aged creditors regularly, proactively resolving any associated queries to maintain smooth supplier relationships.
- Finance Operations & Administration
- Post and reconcile daily bank statements with accuracy, ensuring correct VAT treatment.
- Apply VAT codes correctly to sales and purchase invoices, in line with HMRC guidelines.
What You’ll Bring
- Working towards, or already holding, an AAT qualification.
- Confidence using finance systems and technology.
- Understanding and application of correct VAT treatment.
- Previous experience in a finance or purchase ledger role.
- Familiarity with reconciliations, BACS payments, and supplier management.
- Knowledge of HMRC VAT rules and finance software functionality.
- Experience identifying process improvements or efficiency opportunities.
