We wish to appoint an experienced, inspiring, and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a research Reader, bringing with them a proven track record in attracting significant research funding, influencing policy and practice at a national level and building our research reputation internationally.

The successful candidate will have a strong track record of research outputs with evidence of originality, rigour and significance that are internationally excellent. We expect all applicants to have a track record of timely doctoral completions and experience of external PhD examinations.

Applicants must bring with them significant research esteem including but not limited to international keynote invitations, peer reviewing (outputs and grants) and policy engagement/invitations linked to their research. We expect the applicant to have sustained experience in the organisation of policy relevant national conferences and have secured plans to continue this level of engagement.

The successful candidate will have a qualifying law degree, so they are able to teach across our LLB programmes. Successful candidates will be expected to contribute to developing and teaching both law and criminology modules at undergraduate and postgraduate level and have experience of policy engagement in law as well as policing or the wider criminal justice system.

We welcome applications from academics with strong links with policy makers and practitioners in law, policing and criminal justice. We will be looking to appoint candidates who can strengthen our links with these organisations both locally, nationally and internationally.

Applications are encouraged from academics who bring with them significant secured external research funding (over £150k in a recent year) and a strong likelihood of securing (or have already secured) future research funding. We expect to see a funding track record that includes research council/government funding.

Strong links with policy makers and practitioners in law, policing and criminal justice, with the ability to strengthen these links locally, nationally and internationally.
