Food Services Supervisor (Full time, 40 weeks, Term Time only)

We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced and customer-focused Food Services Supervisor to join our busy Food Services team within Estates and Facilities working across both City & Headingley Campus.

As Food Services Supervisor, you will play a key role in the day-to-day organisation and delivery of food, retail and hospitality services across the University. Working closely with the Food Services Manager, you will supervise and support a team of General Assistants, ensuring that our services operate safely, efficiently and to consistently high standards.

You will be responsible for coordinating staffing and workloads, including rota planning and the management of sessional and casual staff, while ensuring that our customers receive an excellent service. You will also take a hands-on approach to resolving customer queries and complaints, supporting colleagues and maintaining a welcoming environment for students, staff, conference delegates and visitors.

This is a varied role where no two days are necessarily the same. You will support food, retail and hospitality activity across the University, including internal and external events, and will contribute to initiatives designed to improve customer experience, sales and service delivery.

About you

You will have proven experience of supervising and line managing staff within a fast-paced food retail, hospitality or similar customer-facing environment. You will be confident leading a team, allocating workloads and maintaining high standards of customer service, food safety and health and safety.

You will have a minimum Level 3 Food Safety Certificate, or equivalent, together with a sound understanding of workplace health and safety requirements, including COSHH, manual handling and fire awareness.

Experience of using food service procurement and EPOS systems, including analysing sales information and maintaining accurate allergen and product information, would be advantageous.

About the team

Food Services is an important part of the student and staff experience at Leeds Beckett University, providing food, retail and hospitality services across our campuses.

You will join a team committed to delivering safe, high-quality and customer-focused services. You will work collaboratively with colleagues across Estates and Facilities and will have the opportunity to contribute to the continued development of our food, retail and hospitality offer.

The role will also provide the opportunity to deputise for the Food Services Manager when required, giving you valuable experience in supporting the wider operation.

You will also have opportunities to develop your skills and knowledge through training, continuing professional development and experience across the University's food, retail and hospitality services.

Working here means you’ll have access to a wide range of benefits including our generous pension schemes, excellent holiday entitlements, flexible working, reduced study fees, subsidised fitness facilities and a lot more.

We welcome applications from all individuals and particularly from black and minority ethnic candidates as members of these groups are currently under-represented at this level of post. All appointments will be based on merit.
