Leeds Law School is seeking an exceptional academic leader to take on the role of Course Director – Global Engagement and Enterprise.

The successful candidate will provide strategic and operational leadership across all aspects of global engagement, including international student recruitment, partnership management and development.

They will also ensure an outstanding student experience and the highest academic standards.

The successful candidate will have experience of international recruitment at all levels, together with a deep understanding of franchise and articulation arrangements.

From an enterprise perspective, they will also have experience of degree apprenticeships and relevant activities related to legal practice.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Providing course direction, organisation and management to deliver excellence in teaching, learning and assessment.
  • Working closely with relevant colleagues to oversee relationships with the University’s strategic partners and identify opportunities for student recruitment, transnational education, student mobility, research and enterprise.
  • Leading, developing and supporting apprenticeship provision within Leeds Law School.
  • Leading curriculum design and development aligned with the needs of students and the profession.
  • Monitoring and enhancing course performance through quality assurance processes, with a particular focus on recruitment, progression, achievement, student satisfaction and graduate employability.
  • Supporting and guiding students through effective academic advice and pastoral support.
  • We Are Looking For Candidates Who
  • Hold an academic qualification in law, such as an LLB or GDL, and either a doctorate in a relevant subject or a UK professional legal qualification with relevant post-qualification experience.
  • Are Fellows of the Higher Education Academy or hold an equivalent qualification or status.
  • Have significant experience of course or programme leadership and a record of teaching excellence. Experience of doctoral supervision would also be advantageous.
  • Have experience of, and can provide evidence of, research-related activities and publication.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication, leadership, teamwork and organisational skills.

Shortlisting will take place in September, with interviews taking place in October. The expected start date for the post is 1 January 2027.
