A role within the 17-bed Level 2 high intensity rehabilitation service located at the Newsam Centre in Leeds. The position focuses on delivering person-centred care to male service users with enduring mental illness, supporting their recovery and life skills development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish supportive and respectful relationships with service users
  • Work 1:1 or in groups to facilitate therapeutic activities, both ward-based and in the community
  • Observe and engage service users on a shift-by-shift basis under the direction of registered staff
  • Respond to and report risk issues, including immediate risk management and evaluation of treatment plans
  • Maintain a therapeutic environment and proactively develop positive links within the community to enhance the service-user experience
  • Model recovery-oriented language with Trust staff, promoting strengths-based, non-discriminatory, non-medicalised communication
  • Assist multidisciplinary team members in formulating and implementing individualised care plans
  • Work a full 24-hour, 7-day shift pattern, including nights and weekends

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum NVQ Level 3 in Care (or equivalent experience, or willingness to undertake such training)
  • Experience working with service users who have complex mental health needs, or personal lived experience of mental health challenges
  • Demonstrated commitment to recovery-focused psychological interventions
  • Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team and uphold professional standards of care
