Role Description

The Duct Fitter role is a full-time, on-site position based in the London Area, United Kingdom. The duct fitter will install, assemble, and secure ductwork for ventilation and air conditioning systems in line with project specifications and relevant standards. Daily tasks include reading and interpreting technical drawings, measuring and cutting duct materials, fitting and connecting duct sections, and sealing joints to ensure system integrity. The role involves collaborating with site supervisors, engineers, and other trades, maintaining a safe and tidy work environment, and reporting progress or issues promptly. The duct fitter will also perform basic inspections, support testing and commissioning, and follow company health and safety procedures on every project.

Qualifications

  • Strong practical skills in ductwork installation, assembly, and fixing, including experience with metal and flexible duct systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and site plans, with good measurement and layout skills.
  • Knowledge of HVAC and ventilation systems, airflows, and relevant building services standards or regulations.
  • Commitment to safe working practices, including familiarity with site health and safety rules, PPE use, and manual handling.
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools commonly used for cutting, forming, and securing ductwork and supports.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with supervisors, engineers, and other trades on site.
  • Previous experience as a duct fitter or in a similar HVAC or mechanical installation role; experience in commercial or retail projects is an advantage.
  • Relevant trade qualifications or apprenticeship in HVAC, duct fitting, or mechanical services are beneficial; valid CSCS or equivalent site card is an advantage.
  • Reliable, well-organized, and able to manage tasks to meet deadlines while maintaining high workmanship standards.
