We are working with a dynamic and growing contractor specialising in social housing refurbishment, maintenance and large-scale projects across London and beyond. As part of their growth plans, they're looking for a skilled Bid Writer to help shape their future work by producing compelling tender submissions that reflect their commitment to quality, reliability and value.
What You'll Do
- Research and analyse tender opportunities, frameworks and public-sector / private-sector bids relevant to our business.
- Draft, edit and assemble high-quality bids, PQQs, expressions of interest, capability statements, method statements, and any supporting documentation.
- Translate technical and project-specific information (from construction, maintenance, refurbishment teams) into clear, persuasive, benefits-focused narrative — even if you're not from a construction background.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders — project managers, estimators, delivery teams, and supply-chain partners — to gather accurate information and inputs for bids.
- Manage multiple bids simultaneously, meet tight deadlines, and ensure all submissions are compliant, professional, and aligned with our standards.
- Maintain and develop a bid content library (case studies, project data, CVs, standard responses) for reuse in future bids.
- Support bid strategy — help shape “win themes,” key differentiators, and competitive positioning.
What We’re Looking For
- Excellent written English and strong communication skills — you must be able to write clearly, persuasively and accurately.
- Highly organised, with good time management skills and ability to juggle multiple deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
- A proactive, collaborative approach — able to liaise with different parts of a business (technical, delivery, management) to gather information and produce coherent bid documents.
- Comfortable learning technical content: while industry (construction / refurbishment / maintenance) knowledge is a plus, it's not essential — we value strong writing, research and communication skills above all.
- Familiarity with common office software (e.g. MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and willingness to learn bid-management tools.
Nice to Have (but not essential)
- Previous tender or bid writing experience — ideally in construction, social housing or related sectors.
- Exposure to bid management or procurement portals/framework processes (PQQs, frameworks, tenders).
- Ability to contribute to bid strategy, structure, and “win-theme” development.
What We Offer
- A varied and meaningful role where your writing can directly contribute to business growth and securing impactful projects.
- Supportive, team-oriented environment with exposure to a wide range of projects — from maintenance to major works and refurbishment.
- Opportunity to build a bid library and help shape the company’s competitive edge — ideal for someone seeking responsibility and growth.
- Flexibility: we’re open to candidates from non-construction backgrounds, provided you bring strong writing, organisation and communication skills.
