The Opportunity: Ledn is hiring a full-time, UK-based, Regulatory Counsel to help shape our global regulatory strategy at a defining moment for crypto regulation. This is a global-facing role responsible for advising on a wide range of regulatory matters across multiple jurisdictions, including licensing and registration applications, and regulatory engagement. You will report to Ledn’s Chief Legal Officer and work closely with executive leadership to drive regulatory strategy, lead licensing efforts, and engage with regulators globally, with a particular focus in the UK initially with respect to the upcoming UK FCA cryptoasset regulatory regime.

The ideal candidate brings strong legal expertise in financial services regulation, specifically hands-on regulatory experience in the digital asset industry, and the ability to operate in a fast-evolving regulatory landscape.

About the Role:

  • Regulatory Advisory & Strategy: Provide legal advice to internal stakeholders on financial services and digital asset regulatory requirements across key global markets, including the UK. Partner closely with the Chief Legal Officer as well as the Compliance, Product, and Business teams to develop and refine Ledn’s global regulatory strategy and advise on regulatory implications of product design and business initiatives. Monitor legal and regulatory developments across key jurisdictions impacting digital assets, lending, custody, and related activities and assess impact on Ledn’s business. Support expansion into global markets by assessing regulatory feasibility and requirements.
  • Lead Licensing & Regulatory Applications: Lead and support regulatory license and registration applications globally, including supporting Ledn’s FCA authorisation strategy under the upcoming UK FCA cryptoasset regulatory regime. Prepare, review, and maintain regulatory submissions and supporting documentation.
  • Engage Regulators & Influence Policy: Engage with regulators globally, including the FCA, CIMA and other international bodies, on emerging regulatory developments. Monitor and contribute to regulatory consultations, discussion papers, and industry dialogues relevant to digital asset lending to shape Ledn’s external regulatory positioning. Collaborate internally to assess regulatory change and inform strategic decision-making.

Required:

  • Qualified lawyer in a recognized jurisdiction with a minimum of 5 years’ post-qualification experience (PQE) in a regulatory, financial services, or related practice area, currently in good standing.
  • Strong understanding of UK financial services regulation and FCA expectations.
  • Direct hands-on experience with digital asset regulation, including advising on regulatory frameworks, licensing, or compliance obligations for digital asset products or services.
  • Experience supporting regulatory applications and engaging directly with regulators.
  • Experience working in high-growth, fast-paced, or start-up/scale-up environments.
  • Strong ability to operate with ambiguity and navigate evolving regulatory frameworks.
  • Excellent technology skills and comfortable leveraging technology and new tools (including AI) to improve efficiency and workflows.
  • Excellent judgment, communication skills, and the ability to work across functions in a fast-moving international environment.

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of applicable background checks, where relevant and in accordance with UK law. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK at the time of application. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role.

Preferred:

  • Direct experience with FCA cryptoasset and/or lending framework.
  • Experience working in a global organization and dealing with multi-jurisdictional regulatory frameworks.
