As Duty Manager, you’ll be a key presence on shift, supporting the day‑to‑day operation of the centre and ensuring a safe, well‑run and welcoming environment for both customers and team members. You’ll act as a decision‑maker during duty shifts, deputising for the Leisure Manager as required and supporting operational teams across the site. The role includes responsibility for the centre’s aquatic facilities, requiring knowledge of pool safety and operations alongside wider centre operations. This varied, hands‑on position is suited to someone who enjoys leading people, maintaining high operational standards, and delivering excellent customer experiences in a fast‑paced leisure environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Take responsibility for the safe, smooth and efficient running of the centre during duty shifts
  • Lead, motivate and support operational teams across the facility
  • Act as Duty Manager on shift, responding to incidents, issues and customer enquiries
  • Ensure health & safety, safeguarding and operational procedures are followed at all times
  • Oversee pool safety and support pool plant operations where required
  • Manage first aid and emergency situations in line with training and procedures
  • Support customer experience, retention and commercial performance
  • Deputise for the Leisure Manager as required

What we’re looking for

  • Previous experience in a Duty Manager or supervisory role within leisure
  • National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) – or willingness to achieve
  • Pool Plant Operator qualification – or willingness to achieve
  • First Aid at Work certificate
  • Strong leadership, communication and problem‑solving skills
  • Ability to remain calm and decisive in a fast‑paced environment
  • Confident IT skills, including leisure management systems
  • A flexible, resilient and customer‑focused approach

Desirable (but not essential)

  • Fire Safety, Health & Safety or Emergency Procedures training
  • Experience supporting team training and development
  • Ongoing professional development within leisure, fitness or wellbeing
