We are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Team Leader to support our operations by minimizing unplanned downtime and ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient functioning of all equipment. In this role, you will combine strong technical expertise with effective leadership, clear communication, and proactive coordination to guide the maintenance team across our four operational pillars: Health & Safety, Our People, Quality, and Productivity. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for someone who excels at troubleshooting, prioritizing maintenance activities, and developing team members while promoting a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Health & Safety Ensure all team members understand and apply safety regulations, company procedures, and programs, including proper use of PPE and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO). Conduct daily floor tours, enforcing 6S principles and addressing at-risk situations immediately; promote the Take 5 approach. Identify potential hazards and collaborate with the Maintenance Manager to improve and document safety procedures. Ensure all Health & Safety events are properly documented, investigated, and addressed with corrective actions in the SMAAT platform.
- Our People Identify technical skills gaps within the maintenance team; collaborate with the Maintenance Manager and HR to coordinate training and development programs. Establish clear performance expectations aligned with departmental goals; conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback. Support onboarding of new team members by pairing them with appropriate maintenance staff to ensure fast and effective integration. Recognise and report positive staff behaviours and contributions.
- Quality Execute and supervise preventive maintenance to ensure compliance with BRC and other quality standards. Perform routine checks to confirm maintenance activities protect product integrity and follow all quality requirements.
- Productivity Conduct and oversee scheduled preventive maintenance; recommend task and frequency optimisations based on equipment condition. Perform regular audits of the preventive maintenance plan, identifying improvement opportunities and guiding the team on best practices. Manage team task assignments and corrective maintenance priorities; provide support and direction to ensure quick, effective issue resolution. Master and enforce the Maintenance Work Order process. Ensure accurate recording of work time and details in the SAP maintenance system. Provide technical insights to support weekly scheduling and ensure tasks are assigned to appropriate team members. Lead and/or actively participate in communication rituals (AMSPro2), ensuring effective information flow across shifts/lines. Contribute to Breakdown Analysis (BDA) activities and help identify mitigation actions to reduce equipment risk and downtime.
Requirements Qualifications & Requirements
- Trades Certificate, Technical Degree, or equivalent experience is an asset
- Experience with FMGC, high speed production lines, industrial processing an asset
- Demonstrated ability to think critically, analyse and solve problems
- Proficient at Microsoft Suite Tools
- Strong technical background in maintenance, troubleshooting, and equipment repair
- Experience supervising or leading a maintenance team (asset)
- Knowledge of industrial safety standards and LOTO procedures
- Experience with preventative maintenance programs
- Familiarity with SAP or other CMMS platforms
- Effective communication, coaching, and priority-setting skills
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment
Pay rate of £33.20/hour to £43.04/hour and will be determined based on your experience, skills, training and organisational needs.
