About the role
London Export Corporation (LEC), through LEC Beverages, the UK distributor of one of the world's best known beer brands, is opening a new in house production and packaging facility in London. We're looking for a hands on Production and Operations Manager to build it, commission it and run it end to end — and then grow into a wider operations role across the LEC group, which spans beverages, robotics and AI.
This is a builder's role. You'll take an empty warehouse and turn it into a running packaging line: specifying and installing equipment, hiring and training the crew, setting the processes, and owning the entire programme day to day — output, quality, safety, logistics and reporting. You run the whole thing.
What you'll do
- Commission a new packaging and production line: equipment installation, calibration, trials and ramp to full production
- Recruit, train and manage a production crew of 5 to 10, including shift planning and staffing
- Own and manage the entire operation end to end: daily throughput, quality pass rates, waste, downtime, supplies and scheduling, with numbers reported daily through our internal systems
- Set up and enforce health and safety across the site, including COSHH compliance for production materials
- Manage inbound and outbound logistics between our warehouses and the production site
- Work alongside our AI team, who build the tracking, quality inspection and reporting software that runs the line
- As the facility matures, take on wider operational projects across the LEC group
Who you are
- 8 plus years in FMCG production or co packing, ideally drinks, and you've physically run a line, not managed one from an office
- You've commissioned or relocated a production line at least once: new equipment, new site, new crew
- Comfortable with packaging line equipment: coders, labellers, conveyors, case packing, and you can clear a jam and reset a machine yourself
- You've built and managed production teams and know how to get quality work from them
- Extremely detail driven: dates, codes, counts and finish quality are exactly right or they don't ship
- Thrive in a fast moving founder led business where you own the outcome, not a job description
- Fluent in Mandarin
