We are currently seeking an experienced Residential Deputy Manager to join our services based in Carlisle. North Lakes Children’s Services is a well-established local provider of therapeutic residential care and education for boys aged 6-18. We improve the resilience, self-esteem and abilities of all the young people we work with. We currently have a Management opportunity at our 4-bedroom home in Carlisle.
Main Duties:
- Responsible for ensuring that the Statement of Purpose is in place, reflecting the appropriate needs of young people.
- To develop effective communication strategies and systems which assist staff in the operation of their duties.
- To ensure that the policies and procedures of North Lakes Children’s Services are implemented.
- To ensure that staff training and development needs are identified and met.
- To ensure compliance with Health and Safety Regulations.
- To regularly inspect the condition of the building and ensure all necessary equipment is in good working order.
- To manage finance budgets, control, administration and records.
- To promote and implement the company’s Equality and Diversity policies.
- To set, monitor and evaluate standards at individual, team performance and service quality.
- To establish and manage team communication systems.
- To provide vision and leadership to staff within a specialist team.
- To manage a designated budget ensuring value for money.
- To ensure all members of staff receive supervision and appraisal.
- To promote a just society that gives everyone an equal chance to learn, work and live free from discrimination.
- To ensure confidentiality of personal and/or confidential information.
- To assist in the induction programme for new employees.
All Applicants must have:
- An understanding of the issues that face young people in care.
- Hold Residential Childcare/Families Practitioner Diploma/Children and Young People’s Workforce/NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care or equivalent.
- Excellent communication and listening skills.
- Be willing to learn and work well as part of a small team.
- Be willing to undertake a DBS check at enhanced level.
- Experience with Emotional Behavioural Disorder, Social/Residential Work or Youth Work would be advantageous.
- A full, clean UK driving licence.

- A sleep-in allowance of £62.64 per night.
- Shift Rotation: 2 days on, 2 days off, with staggered start times.
