At Dove Adolescent Services we support young people within our care to develop emotional resilience to achieve their full potential in all areas of their lives. The underpinning ethos within our homes is fostering appropriate relationships with young people and their significant others to support them within their future transitions into adulthood.
We are seeking a Children’s Home Registered Manager to join our services in Doncaster, looking after our brand new 4 bed home.
Main Purpose of Job
The Registered Manager holds accountability and overall responsibility for the day-to-day management of the home to ensure we deliver a high quality level of care, ensuring the home actively promotes the rights of young people as individuals and provides them with quality care in accordance with the policies and procedures of the organisation.
To lead a team of care workers, in conjunction with relevant legislation and guidance to ensure that good outcomes are achieved for young people within the home to meet their physical, psychological, emotional & social development. To contribute to the overall ethos, values and aims of the organisation.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for Service and Practice
- The development and delivery of high-quality care in accordance with relevant legislation, regulations, including Ofsted SCCIF and organisational policies and procedures; promote equal opportunities, anti-discrimination and safeguarding responsibilities.
- Adherence to all legislative guidelines in respect of Health & Safety and ensure that staff have adequate knowledge and training.
- Maintain appropriate records relating to young people and employees; implement monitoring and evaluation systems.
- Provide management information including collection and return of statistical information as required.
- Develop and promote new techniques and approaches to childcare within the home; be part of the senior team and positively promote the organisation’s well-being.
- Attend, prepare for and chair various meetings internally and externally.
- On a rota basis, take on-call responsibilities; sleep-in shifts to cover shortfalls if required.
- Write concise and evaluative reports and oversee all written communication to sustain required standards.
- Make appropriate decisions when required.
- Oversee admissions and discharges to the home.
- Innovate, lead change, and align with the organisational ethos.
- All Managers are expected to have a relevant Diploma level 5 or equivalent or be prepared to work towards this.
Human Resource Management
- Participate in recruitment of new employees with relevant checks completed.
- Ensure staff are adequately inducted, supervised and appraised per organisational policy.
- Oversee Continuous Professional Development of staff; ensure mandatory training is met.
- Maintain effective rosters and monthly expenses.
- Investigate grievances, complaints and disciplinary matters in line with organisational policies and procedures.
Management of Physical and Financial Resources
- Monitor the service budget and financial transactions; ensure targets are achieved and adhered to.
- Ensure overall maintenance of service premises and equipment meets requirements.
External Affairs
- Promote the organisation in a positive way with external agencies, professionals and the public as required.
- Liaise with commissioners/referral managers regarding admissions.
- Attend and contribute to psychotherapy leadership and management forums; lead these meetings within the team.

- 25 days per annum plus 8 statutory holidays
- £3,000 Bonus – Outstanding Ofsted Report
- Full Occupancy Bonus – £400 a month
- On Call payments – £25 weekday, £35 weekends
- 39 hours full time; sleep-in duties as set out per rota
- Some office days for administrative duties
- Petrol allowance when using own car (proof of business insurance required)
- Pension in line with organisational scheme and government guidance
