The Senior Risk Analyst (Governance & Controls) supports the Head of RPC & Compliance in embedding and maintaining an effective Risk, Permanent Control, and Compliance framework across the organisation. The role combines analytical risk management, control governance, and data-driven reporting.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide analytical support on credit applications, portfolio assessments, and budgetary planning to inform the organisation’s risk appetite and decision-making.
  • Perform monthly and quarterly control testing and reviews in line with the annual risk mapping and control plan, ensuring timely documentation, escalation, and remediation.
  • Maintain and update risk and control registers, ensuring the completeness and accuracy of data and evidence.
  • Prepare risk and control MI, dashboards, and reports for senior management, Risk Committees, and group functions.
  • Support the Operational Risk Management and Compliance teams with data, reporting, and governance activities across the risk spectrum.
  • Assist in the completion and analysis of the annual Risk & Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) and Independent Testing Plan (ITP).
  • Coordinate and maintain Permanent Control Actions (PCAs) and related issue/action tracking logs.
  • Support audit and regulatory engagements by collating evidence, verifying data, and ensuring control documentation is up to date.
  • Contribute to the automation and improvement of MI dashboards and data analytics for better risk visibility and efficiency.
  • Collaborate across departments to strengthen governance, promote risk awareness, and drive a culture of control ownership.
  • Review and challenge governance and control practices to ensure alignment with Consumer Duty requirements and the delivery of good customer outcomes.
  • Support the identification, assessment, and mitigation of risks that could impact fair value, customer understanding, or customer support, in line with Consumer Duty principles.
  • Provide guidance and training to colleagues on Consumer Duty obligations as they relate to governance and controls.
  • Evidence of effective challenge and oversight in relation to Consumer Duty requirements.
  • Demonstrated improvements in controls and processes that support good customer outcomes.
  • Understanding of the FCA Consumer Duty and its application within governance and operational risk management (desirable).

The ideal candidate will have

  • Excellent attention to detail, documentation accuracy, and organisational discipline.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to translate technical data into clear insights.
  • Skilled at balancing multiple priorities under tight deadlines in a small-team environment.
  • Collaborative, proactive, and self‑motivated — comfortable working across both 1LoD and 2LoD functions.
  • Degree (or equivalent) in Finance, Economics, Risk Management, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in credit risk, operational risk, or risk governance (Minimum 3-5 years’ experience).
  • Understanding of risk and control frameworks, RCSA methodology, and monitoring principles.
  • Prior exposure to monthly/quarterly control activities and control testing (desirable).
  • Familiarity with risk appetite frameworks and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Experience in financial services or auto finance environment (desirable).
