The Accounting Specialist – Collections is responsible for managing, monitoring, and improving the end‑to‑end debt collection process across the Leasys UK portfolio, including Used Car remarketing‑related, VRB, Buyback, intercompany customer accounts. The role ensures timely cash recovery, aged‑debt reduction, accurate debtor reconciliation, and alignment with Group reporting and internal control requirements. It supports working‑capital improvement, strengthens financial governance, and enhances cash‑allocation efficiency.
Debt Collection & Cash Recovery
- Proactively chase overdue debt across Used Car, VRB, Buyback, remarketing and intercompany accounts.
- Manage the full collections cycle including reminders, escalations and allocation.
- Resolve customer invoice disputes promptly and professionally.
- Liaise with Sales, Remarketing, Operations and Finance teams to resolve billing or allocation discrepancies.
- Produce weekly debt‑chasing dashboards and overdue analysis.
Debtor Ledger Oversight
- Maintain accurate debtor ledgers and reconcile key customer accounts.
- Review aging reports, identify risks and recommend provisions.
- Work with Collections/AP/Bank Posting teams to ensure timely, accurate payment allocation.
- Clear unallocated cash and investigate unreconciled differences.
- Monthly WorldPay account reconciliation.
Month‑End & Reporting
- Prepare month‑end journals relating to collections‑related accruals and adjustments.
- Support Group and local management reporting (debtor movements, KPIs, cash recovery).
- Supply inputs for cash‑flow forecasting.
Process Improvement & Controls
- Strengthen controls around debtor management and allocation processes.
- Identify inefficiencies, propose improvements and support automation initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, audit standards.
Required Knowledge and Skills
- 2–5 years’ experience in AR, Collections, Credit Control or Finance.
- Experience with Miles, Dataflow GL/P2P preferred.
Technical Skills and Personal characteristics
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Confident dealing with challenging conversations.
- Highly organised, proactive, resilient.
