Salary: To £60,000 plus excellent bonus and benefits
Location: UK, South of England (Remote/Hybrid)
Key Accountabilities
- Underwrite new credit proposals within personal mandate.
- Recommend proposals exceeding mandate for Senior Underwriter or Credit Manager approval.
- Review credit proposals above other underwriters’ mandates, providing constructive feedback as needed.
- Ensure credit analyses are appropriate for the level of advance and compliant with QA standards.
- Complete annual reviews accurately and within set deadlines.
- Build effective internal and external relationships across SME Lending, Sales, Asset Management, and Collections/Recoveries.
- Promote open communication and collaboration across departments.
- Attend customer visits to enhance understanding and improve credit decision quality.
Person Specification
- Experience in commercial lending, covering both secured and unsecured facilities.
- Ability to assess high volumes of lower-value proposals efficiently and accurately.
- Understanding of direct and broker-led origination models.
- Strong commercial awareness with sound credit judgement.
- Excellent written communication and credit paper preparation skills.
- Organised, detail-oriented, and able to balance risk with opportunity.
