LLS are a firm of solicitors who specialise in enfranchisement work. We are a wholly owned subsidiary of Homehold, who are a valuation and project management company which assist leaseholders with their statutory lease extension and freehold purchase claims. Together with Homehold, we offer an end-to-end enfranchisement service; we do everything from reviewing the title, valuing the property, serving notice, negotiating the premium and completing the conveyancing work, and registering the new lease. We have a commitment to negotiating fair lease terms for our leaseholder clients. Our consistent five-star rating on Trustpilot and Google demonstrate our focus on offering fantastic customer service – so the client feels that their claim is looked after from start to finish.
LLS prides itself on being different from conventional law firms. Our key performance indicator is client satisfaction, so we do not time-record and we do not bill our clients based on hourly rates. Instead, we are committed to only starting a manageable number of matters each week, which are completed on a fixed-fee basis. Since 2021 the business has maintained a waiting list of paid instructions, and we have a credible plan to grow the business and become a market leader in enfranchisement both in terms of volume and quality of service over the next two years. We have strong focus on work-life balance, a commitment to offering flexibility and our team works remotely with monthly travel to London.
The Role
We are recruiting an experienced leasehold enfranchisement practitioner to work within our legal team and help maintain our fantastic levels of customer service as our business grows. You don’t need to be a qualified lawyer, but you do need to be able to demonstrate significant experience working on enfranchisement cases. LLS has an active and fast-paced case load, and you will be allocated your own clients and case load from the outset. Our parent company supplies our work, and we have support staff who look after much of the “heavy lifting” on the cases – such as serving notices, dealing with deposits and handling registration. This allows the team to concentrate on the legal work and client care.
Your key duties will include:
- Initial Title Investigations and Lease Reviews;
- Preparation of Initial Notices;
- Reviewing, Drafting, Negotiating and Agreeing New Leases;
- Arranging Signature of New Leases;
- Arranging and Dealing with Completion and Completion Formalities;
- Supporting our paralegal with post-completion tasks;
- Recruiting, training and overseeing more junior staff.
Interested in career progression? As the business grows, within the next 24-months there will be opportunity to progress to a Senior Associate-level position leading your own team of case managers, paralegals, and administrators.
Qualifications
- At least two years of experience in leasehold enfranchisement work;
- Task oriented, adaptable, and able to manage a busy case load with minimal supervision;
- An interest in growing your career – we want colleagues who are keen to progress, and help others progress;
- A capability and interest in developing your skills and knowledge in the technical aspects of leasehold enfranchisement;
- A commitment to developing your own skills when faced with complex matters, as the business grows, and as Leasehold Reforms are implemented;
- A genuine and enthusiastic interest in property law, and leasehold enfranchisement specifically;
- A right to work in the UK and intend to work from home in England and Wales;
- Within 2.5 hours “door to door” by train of Central London and willing to commute to monthly team meet ups.
Location
Post-Coronavirus the entire team are home-based, and we plan to stay that way. We will provide you with a computer and whatever is required to make sure your workstation is comfortable and productive. We congregate monthly in London for training and team building.
Package
- Home-based role (except for one day a month in London);
- 25 days of holiday, increasing by one day for every year of service up to 30 days plus normal bank holidays;
- Share in the business’ success through a discretionary twice-yearly bonus (this is discretionary, but bonuses paid historically have equated to about 10% of pay);
- Salary will be dependent on level of experience.
