We are looking for an ELT Subject Matter Expert to author contextual vocabulary activities specifically for adult learners working within the UK National Framework (Entry Level 1 to Level 2 / CEFR A1-C1). The core of this role is Language Grading—the ability to write authentic British English sentences that are strictly controlled for difficulty according to the learner's level.
Key Responsibilities
- Level-Specific Authoring: Create vocabulary sentences that strictly adhere to the linguistic constraints of Levels 1 through 5 (Entry 1 to Level 2).
- Functional Adult Contexts: Develop content focused on UK-specific life skills, professional communication, and everyday British interactions.
- Template Discipline: Populate highly structured activity templates with 100% accuracy, including specific metadata for word classes and difficulty markers.
- Linguistic Accuracy: Ensure all content reflects contemporary British usage, spelling, and social norms.
Education & Certified Experience
- Required: Minimum Level 5 Teaching Qualification (CELTA or Trinity CertTESOL).
- Preferred: Level 7 Qualification (DELTA/DipTESOL) or MA in Applied Linguistics.
Experience: 3-5+ years teaching Adult ESOL or Functional Skills English in a UK setting.
Technical Skill: Demonstrated ability to 'grade' language—writing simple sentences for beginners without sounding patronising or childish.
