Learning4Life-Gy is searching for a motivated, dedicated and passionate General Teacher to join our ever-growing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the design of a new and inspiring curriculum, demonstrating strong subject and curriculum knowledge across multi-trade disciplines, planning, preparing and teaching well-structured practical and theory lessons that engage all learners (particularly those with additional support requirements), and developing and maintaining individual learning plans to track goals, progress and support needs.

Candidates with experience in painting and decorating and woodwork are strongly encouraged to apply, and the ability to deliver across additional trade areas would be advantageous. Applicants must be qualified to teach and work in the UK to be eligible for this position; we require all of our teachers to hold a minimum of Level 6 subject specific qualification (BA Hons), PGCE or equivalent, and a QTS/QTLS. Please provide your teacher reference number (TRN) in the relevant box on your application form.

This is a full-time position, with a salary of £36,075 per annum, and a start date of August 2026. The closing date for applications is Friday 29th May at 12PM. Learning4Life-Gy reserves the right to close applications early with little or no notice.

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate good subject and curriculum knowledge
  • Plan, prepare and teach well-structured lessons that engage, meeting the diverse needs of all learners, including those with additional support requirements
  • Adapt teaching to respond to the strengths and needs of all learners
  • Make accurate and productive use of assessment
  • Manage behaviour effectively to ensure a good and safe learning environment
  • Fulfil wider professional responsibilities such as making a positive contribution to the wider life and ethos of the school; develop effective professional relationships with colleagues, parents and professionals
  • Deploy teaching assistants effectively
  • Support learners’ personal development, including employability, communication, confidence, and life skills
  • Comply with health and safety and safeguarding requirements and actively promote good practice within and outside the learning environment
  • Actively promote the Learning4Life-Gy policy for equality and diversity and advance equality of opportunity within the learning environment and the workplace
  • Be prepared for teaching, ensuring that your classroom is staffed 15 minutes prior to the lesson start time
  • Cover for staff absences when necessary within area of expertise and manage resources effectively including directing volunteers and Teaching Assistants
  • Contribute to quality assurance through attendance at curriculum and standardisation meetings, participating in and contributing to internal and external verification activities along with self-assessment and observation process
  • Undertake other such duties as may be reasonably expected at this level
