This is a great opportunity to take on a rewarding role within a small and innovative organisation based just off Junction 13 of the M5, near Stonehouse GL10.
Summary: We are seeking a dedicated Speech and Language Therapist to join our team. The new role is largely a hands-on one with administration and paperwork kept to a minimum. The ideal candidate may have a background in speech and language therapy, the use of AAC and experience of providing direct support to non or partially speaking autistic people. They will have excellent clinical skills. Most importantly, they must enjoy working closely with people, be curious in nature and have an obvious passion for the work. Initially on a one year fixed term contract but, subject to negotiation after six months, the role could become permanent.
Responsibilities:
- Spending time with the people we support in their homes – various slots/times during the person’s day and week.
- Using Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems: exploring ways to support people to express themselves, make choices and, most importantly, be heard.
- Using Video Reflective Practice: making and watching videos for the purposes of self-reflection and advocating for the person supported.
- Providing guidance, support, coaching and training to families, caregivers, and outside clinicians on strategies and techniques to facilitate communication development at home and in the community.
- Monitoring and evaluating people’s progress regularly, adjusting things as needed to optimise outcomes and ensure ongoing engagement and motivation from everyone involved.
- Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and professional development activities to share knowledge, expertise, and best practices with colleagues and contribute to the continuous improvement of services.
- Stay informed about current research, trends, and advancements in the field of speech and language therapy through ongoing learning and professional development opportunities.
