Learning Resources Inc. is a leading global developer and manufacturer of innovative, hands-on educational toys and learning aids trusted by teachers and parents and loved by children. Based in Kings Lynn, Norfolk, Learning Resources Ltd is responsible for marketing, selling and supplying these high-quality products to the territories of Europe, the Middle East, Africa & India serving children and their families, preschool, nursery and primary school markets. Learning Resources Ltd also sells and distributes a wide product range from our wider family of brands including Hand2Mind and Educational Insights as well as holding the global Master Toy License for Numberblocks.
Team & Position Description
Reporting to the Head of Sales, the successful candidate will grow the distribution, sales and profitability of the Learning Resources brand through the acquisition of major retail (brick & mortar and online) customers within the UK and Ireland markets. You will also be responsible for growing distribution and sales in the UK and Ireland of our Numberblocks range. You will execute a sales strategy tailored to expand existing accounts and capture new opportunities in the retail market. In this newly created role, you will identify and secure strategic partnerships and leverage market insights to ensure the company’s sustained success in the retail channel. Collaboration across functional teams, including product development, marketing, operations and our US team will be key to aligning resources and ensuring cohesive execution of the company’s vision.
Responsibilities
What you will do day to day (responsibilities):
- Partner with senior management to develop and implement sales strategies, aligning with corporate goals and market opportunities.
- Establish key account strategies, cultivate relationships, and drive customer acquisition through data-led decision-making.
- Analyse market trends, customer performance, and competitor activities to identify new opportunities and maintain a competitive edge.
- Work closely with Marketing and Product Development to align Numberblocks sales plans and opportunities with the wider sales strategy, leveraging opportunities to grow the wider range.
- Identify and onboard new business opportunities, develop Joint Business Plans with key retailers, and expand distribution across UK & Ireland.
- Work cross-functionally with internal teams and manage distributors/agents to maximise business impact and customer satisfaction.
- Track and report on sales performance, ensuring accurate forecasting, strategic planning, and effective use of company resources.
What We Are Looking For (Key Performance Objectives)
- Sales Strategy & Growth: Implement the 3-year sales strategy for the UK and Ireland retail markets.
- Retail Expansion: Secure partnerships with 2 major mass retailers in the UK by December 2026 to strengthen market presence
- Revenue Diversification: Achieve 3-year sales plan by developing revenue streams and leveraging new and existing strategic partnerships and integrated marketing campaigns.
- Industry Networking: Establish Learning Resources as a trusted industry partner by attending at least 2 trade shows annually.
- Product & Marketing Alignment: Collaborate with product and marketing teams to create tailored promotions that meet market-specific retailer’s needs.
- Data-Driven Sales Reporting & Forecasting: Implement data-driven sales forecasting within 6 months, delivering accurate quarterly forecasts for new products and monthly reports with actionable insights for leadership.
Requirements/Ideal Attributes
- University degree or equivalent in a business-related field.
- 5+ years of sales experience in the UK and Ireland retail market or consumer goods sector.
- Proven success in securing partnerships with retailers and distributors.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Proven track record of excellence in sales activity
- Proficient in CRM tools and sales analytics.
- Experience of working with a licensed product range.
