Role Overview

Learning Curve Group is seeking experienced and engaging Freelance Hospitality Tutor to join our Adult Skills provision. This is an exciting opportunity to deliver high-quality, classroom-based training and support to learners undertaking industry-relevant digital qualifications.

The successful candidate will deliver the following programmes:

  • NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Excellence in Customer Service for Hospitality
  • Highfield Level 2 Food Safety in Catering

This role is site-based and requires tutors to deliver face-to-face learning sessions, providing learners with the knowledge, skills, support, and guidance required to successfully achieve their qualifications.

This remote position involves delivering high-quality, engaging training that supports learners in achieving their qualification and advancing their professional practice. The role follows a 100% online delivery model, with tutors utilising online platforms like Teams.

There is also the opportunity to assess, mark and provide developmental feedback on learner work via remote learning and our E-assessor platform.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching, Learning and Assessment

  • Deliver engaging, high-quality face-to-face teaching sessions across our Hospitality Suite.
  • Create an inclusive and supportive learning environment that promotes learner engagement and achievement.
  • Assess learner performance and provide relevant underpinning knowledge to ensure learners meet qualification requirements.
  • Provide timely, constructive, and developmental feedback to support learner progression.
  • Monitor learner progress and implement support strategies to maximise achievement and completion rates.
  • Identify and address barriers to learning, providing appropriate support and guidance to learners.
  • Ensure all teaching, learning, and assessment activities meet awarding organisation standards and internal quality requirements.

Learner Support and Progression

  • Maintain regular contact with learners and provide ongoing support throughout their learning journey.
  • Encourage learner participation, motivation, and commitment to achieving their qualification.
  • Support learners in setting personal and professional development goals.
  • Provide exit guidance and progression advice to support future employment, further learning, or career development opportunities.
  • Promote positive learner outcomes and successful progression pathways.

Quality and Compliance

  • Complete all learner documentation accurately and within required timescales.
  • Ensure assessment decisions are robust, valid, reliable, and fully compliant with awarding body requirements.
  • Address any actions identified through quality assurance or internal moderation activities within agreed timescales.
  • Attend standardisation meetings and participate in quality improvement activities as required.
  • Liaise with internal teams to discuss learner progress, achievement, and any identified concerns.
  • Maintain accurate learner records and ensure compliance with funding and regulatory requirements.

Professional Practice

  • Maintain up-to-date industry knowledge and occupational competency within the digital sector.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and share best practice across the organisation.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders to ensure an excellent learner experience.
  • Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of delivery and learner support.
  • Adhere to company policies relating to Safeguarding, Prevent, Health & Safety, Data Protection, and Information Security.
  • Act as a positive ambassador for Learning Curve Group at all times.

Essentia Criteria

  • L3 teaching qualification as a minimum (or will be willing to work towards)
  • Level 3 Sector qualification minimum

Ability to teach and assess the following is essential:

  • NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Excellence in Customer Service for Hospitality
  • Highfield Level 2 Food Safety in Catering

Ability to teach and assess the following is not essential - but could lead to additional work opportunities:

  • Level 2 Award in Barista Skills

Flexibility

As an associate tutor you have the luxury of picking and choosing how often you would like to teach to accommodate to your other commitments. All Employability courses differ in terms of the length of the course and the number of days which are required from the tutor each week for delivery. You will receive all courses information prior to accepting work.

Support

From day 1 you will receive support from your Tutor Delivery Manager, starting with an in depth and thorough onboarding process and a chance to ask all your questions! You will have regular contact and update with your manager over Microsoft Teams, or face to face if you're passing the office.

SHIFTS

We have recently invested into a live scheduling tool called SHIFTS for all our tutors in Employability. As a tutor you will receive instructions on how to sign into the APP. Once you have completed your profile, you will receive notifications when a job has been assigned to you and be able to look at all your upcoming courses you have agreed with your Tutor Manager to deliver. Organisation at its finest!

Standardisation Meetings

You will use your own initiative to complete the services, however LCG can specify working standards which are monitored by observations and twice-yearly standardisation meetings. The standardisation meetings are also an excellent opportunity to learn and share best practice with other tutors across the nation.

Associate tutors are self-employed individuals and therefore responsible for making their own tax and NI contributions. A UTR number will be required which you can apply for from HMRC Unfortunately we are unable to work with Ltd companies, you need to work as a sole trader.

For this role, we will also carry out adverse media checks and also need to carry out a DBS check and will ask information related to previous convictions if you are shortlisted for interview.
