Role Information:
Our academies' provision at Learning Curve Group supports thousands of learners to gain hands-on experience in their chosen profession. As a Learning Support Advisor at our MPCT Liverpool Academy, you will assist our learners with additional learning needs. This unique role is Part Time on a fixed-term basis. A strong background in supporting young people with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND) is essential.
Please note that this is on a 44-week term basis with closures as follows:
- October Half Term (1 week)
- December Half Term (2 weeks)
- February Half Term (1 week)
- April Half Term (1 Week)
- May Half Term (1 Week)
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide structured support using a range of effective interventions (as per their EHCP Plan) within a class and/or outdoor setting.
- Aid access to the full range of learning experiences and provide modified materials as required.
- Provide positive reinforcements, praise, and emotional support to learners.
- Advise and support tutors with making necessary adjustments for learners with learning support needs.
- Ensure Learning Support Plans and contact logs are updated accurately and timely.
- Work as part of the team to enhance the well-being and personal development of the learner.
- Agree on learning support aims and interventions with the learner and set these out in the Learning Support Plan.
- Provide regular feedback to the SENCO and relevant outside agencies about any pupil's difficulties and progress.
- Contribute to the Learners' annual review by writing a brief report and attending the meeting.
- Foster links with External Agencies and Carers.
- Facilitate inclusion in small group activities with learners.
- Attend in-service training and relevant meetings to keep up to date with developments.
- Carry out tasks and responsibilities under the direction of the SENCO.
- Comply with the Safeguarding, Prevent and Health and Safety Policies.
- Ensure confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
- Provide learners, customers and colleagues with support, advice, and guidance.
- Conduct your role in line with the company values and expected behaviours.
- Promote equal opportunities and recognition of diversity throughout the company.
Essential Criteria:
- Minimum of 2 years experience working with Post 16 Learners.
- Knowledge and experience of working with Post 16 learners with Educational Health Care Plans (EHCP).
- GCSE, 'O' Level or equivalent qualifications in Maths and English.
- NVQ3 or equivalent as recognised by the National Occupational Standards for Supporting Teaching and Learning.
- Knowledge and understanding of the different social, cultural and physical needs of Learners.
- Training in aspects of SEN, i.e. ADHD, Dyslexia, Autism, SEMH etc.
- Calm and patient attitude.
