LearnChess Academy is recruiting Kent-based Lead Chess Coaches to deliver fun, structured after-school chess sessions in primary schools. This is not a chess club and not a performance role. Chess is used as an educational activity to build children’s thinking skills, confidence, focus, and positive behaviour.

Please note: Kent UK *in person*, no sponsorship, no remote. Must have right to work and DBS.

We’re looking for people who are:

  • Calm, confident, and professional with children
  • Positive, engaging, and fun in their delivery
  • Comfortable leading groups and managing behaviour in a school setting
  • Teaching ability and personality matter more than chess strength.

Preferred backgrounds include:

  • Teachers
  • TAs
  • Sports/enrichment coaches
  • Youth workers
  • Scouts/Guides leaders
  • Childcare professionals
  • Confident graduates with group leadership experience.

Key requirements:

  • Experience working with children in groups
  • Driving licence + access to a car (equipment supplied)
  • Enhanced DBS preferred (must be obtained before starting)
  • Right to work in the UK

Part-time, self-employed. Typically ~10 weekly sessions across terms, multiple venues, with opportunities to increase.
