Learna is investing in its systems, data, AI and people. We have a capable in-house team building our own platforms, a business that wants more from its technology, and a newly designed team structure to make that happen. We now need someone to run digital operations as a service to the business: to make sure the right work gets done, in the right order, and that everyone can see why. If you are good at bringing order, calm and clarity to a busy function, and at turning what a business needs into technology people actually use, we’d like you to apply for this role.
About Learna
As part of the Reducate Group, Learna delivers flexible online postgraduate education to healthcare professionals worldwide. Our portfolio includes more than fifty specialist programmes, designed and delivered by experienced clinicians and educators. We are expanding our offering in line with evolving healthcare needs while maintaining a strong focus on quality, learner experience, and operational discipline.
The Role
You are the bridge between the business and the technology team. You spend time with every department, understand where technology helps or hinders them, and turn their problems into clear requirements. You broker priorities with other heads of department, build a roadmap the business can trust, and explain technology plainly to the executive team so that decisions about scope, time and cost are made openly.
You also own the operational foundations Learna depends on every day: infrastructure, cyber security, cloud and workplace systems, IT support, and data. This is a leadership and management role, not a hands‑on development role. You will need enough technical depth to make sound decisions and challenge suppliers, and the organisational skill to keep a busy function focused.
Key Responsibilities
- Business engagement and roadmap: requirements from every department, and a roadmap with explicit, published priorities.
- Delivery and transformation: work finished properly, and a leading role in transforming customer operations.
- Infrastructure and cyber security: identity, devices and cloud, with ISO 27001 and Cyber Essentials Plus as a standing baseline.
- Business systems and integrations: one standard tool for each purpose, and the automations that connect them.
- Data and reporting: clear data ownership and a single trusted source of reporting.
- IT support: a well‑run service with clear service levels that scales for peak periods.
- AI adoption: practical, well‑governed AI embedded in how colleagues work, not bolted on.
- Team leadership and budget: a visible, united function, with the technology budget and suppliers delivering value.
What Success Looks Like in the First Year
- Within 60 days, a published three‑month roadmap that heads of department recognise and support.
- A regular prioritisation forum with the executive team, with decisions recorded and visible.
- Leaders trust the reporting they use, and figures agree across departments.
- Infrastructure and security run as a steady routine, and audits are passed without a last‑minute rush.
- The backlog is understood, honest and shrinking, and the technology team is recognised for what it delivers.
Key Requirements
- Proven experience leading a technology function in a growing, mid‑sized or larger organisation, including ownership of a strategy and roadmapping.
- A track record of leading business transformation through technology, with measurable results in cost, capacity, speed or experience.
- The ability to turn business needs into clear requirements, broker priorities across senior stakeholders and hold a line on what has been agreed.
- Experience of delivering multiple projects through a single team, managing capacity, dependencies and suppliers.
- Practical experience of introducing AI or automation with measurable results, a sound grasp of its security, privacy and ethical considerations, and a record of making sure new tools are adopted, not just deployed.
- Experience of running infrastructure and information security, including leading ISO 27001, with working knowledge of Cyber Essentials Plus and GDPR.
- Experience of selecting and standardising SaaS business applications, running service support, and building data governance so leaders work from one trusted source.
- Enough technical depth across cloud, integration, data and AI to be a credible partner to a senior engineer, and the ability to explain technology simply at executive level.
- Experience in education, healthcare education or another complex or regulated sector.
- Experience of working within a group structure or through acquisition and integration.
- A relevant qualification such as ITIL, PRINCE2, Agile or ISO 27001 Lead Implementer.
- Experience of managing a technology budget and supplier contracts.
