Join to apply for the Learning Support Assistant role at Learn With SAT. We are currently recruiting for an experienced Learning Support Assistant to work as part of a wider disciplinary team, offering educational and therapeutic support in a young person's home, as part of a bespoke EOTAS package based in Horsham, West Sussex. The role would be ideally suited to an individual with extensive experience of working with SEND adolescents outside of a school environment. You will be responsible for mentoring the student, therefore a strong understanding in Attention Hyper Deficit Disorder (ADHD), Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA), and Autism (ASD) is essential.
What You Will Be Responsible For
- You will be responsible for providing low-demand, educational support for up to 15 hours per week, within school hours (09:00 to 15:00), Monday to Friday, term time only.
- Work within a low-demand, interest-led, and emotionally safe environment.
- Assist in engagement, emotional regulation, and adapting to the changing needs of the individual you are supporting.
- Collaborate with tutors, therapists, and the wider team to ensure the provision is delivered as per the young person's EHCP.
- Accompany the student on outings and to community-based activities as required.
- Support learning through play-based and therapeutic approaches, using a child-led approach.
What We Are Looking For
- Experience supporting children with ADHD, ASD, and PDA.
- Familiarity with child-led approaches.
- Willingness to work flexibly as part of a team and communicate clearly with colleagues and family.
- Comfortable working in a home-based and community setting.
Essential Criteria
- 2+ years experience as an LSA/TA or in a similar child-facing support role.
- Clear Enhanced DBS (preferably on the Update Service).
- Valid driving licence and access to a vehicle, non-drivers should not apply.
Desirable Criteria
- Training in low-arousal approaches or trauma-informed care.
- Experience in EOTAS, alternative provision, or home education environments.
