Responsibilities

  • Implement and deliver an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum for pupils and support a designated curriculum area as appropriate.
  • Monitor and support the overall progress and development of pupils as a teacher.
  • Facilitate and encourage a learning experience that provides pupils with the opportunity to achieve their individual potential.
  • Contribute to raising standards of pupil attainment.
  • Share and support the school's responsibility to provide and monitor opportunities for personal growth and enjoyment.
  • Assist in developing appropriate syllabuses, resources, schemes of work, marking policies and teaching strategies in the curriculum area and department.
  • Contribute to the achievement of the school's development plan and its implementation.
  • Plan and prepare lessons.
  • Contribute to the whole school's planning activities.
  • Promote and safeguard pupils' welfare as paramount, acting in accordance with the responsibility 'in loco parentis'.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK (or equivalent certification in other countries). (Essential)
  • Bachelor's Degree in Education (B.Ed) or equivalent teaching qualification; alternatively a degree in a relevant subject plus a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE). (Essential)
  • Enhanced DBS check (in the UK) for safeguarding children. (Essential)
  • Evidence of participation in further professional development or study. (Desirable)
  • Basic first aid training. (Desirable)
